You're welcome to read something that isn't on our lists. When you do, choose it together with a family member — and talk it over with a teacher or librarian.
While shared texts typically populate the landscape of the secondary English classroom, recreational reading plays an equally important role in developing critical thinking, empathy, and self-awareness.
These students read the required text plus a minimum of one additional independent selection from the list below — not two.
